Making a Change

There have been plenty of fascinating finds in the last couple of months, ranging from scientists witnessing a star collapse outside our solar system (you can find our article on it here) to centuries old sculptures mistakenly being used as garden decor. One of my favorite things so far, though, has been discovering the story of Zafer Elcik, an app maker from Turkey who wanted to help his brother who has autism, Alper.

Elcik co-founded Otsimo, an educational app made to help children with learning disabilities. Using ABA software, the app has aided kids in overcoming developmental challenges and in many cases, learn how to read and write. The company has accumulated over 50 games for children to play, and Otsimo has reached over 100,000 families around the world. Amazing.

Alper and Zafer’s stories are nothing short of incredibly moving, and we wish the best of luck here to the brothers and to the necessary outlets for children with learning disabilities such as autism.
