Clone Me Up!

Ring the bells because as of February 2019, scientists have discovered a safe way to make synthetic DNA and RNA! This new double helix is composed of eight nitrogenous bases instead of the four that are found in nature (you may remember the regular ol' A, T, G, and C bases, but here's a guide to all things DNA if you want to learn more).

Appropriately named Hachimoji DNA can be used for a plethora of current issues, including vaccinations and medical treatments, agricultural waste, and the production of different chemicals that can help countries all over the world. Oh, and don't forget the possibilities of new life forms.

The reason why this replication is so important to future scientists is because it is stable enough to produce life. Our own DNA is stable and predictable because it has evolved over millions of years to sustain all life as we know it, but previous attempts were too dangerous to put into use. So to make something that can mimic real life in terms of usability is truly astonishing.
